About Nate · Founder of WayMark

We all need somebody who’s been where we want to go.

I’m Nate. I spent years growing a painting company past $10M — now I help other painting contractors build the systems to get there.

My story

I didn’t make the climb alone.

I’m a partner in Select Painting, a painting business I helped grow past $10 million in revenue. I’m proud of that. But I didn’t do it alone.

Early on, my business partner Caleb Brunz had already been a Regional VP at College Pro. He’d had a hundred franchises and a thousand painters under him. Caleb walked alongside me and passed on what he knew.

Later, my father-in-law, Jeff Aegerter, worked with us through the $6 million to $10 million stage. Jeff had founded a credit card servicing company that, at one point, had more than 250 employees. He helped us professionalize the business, find the right people, and learn how to lead leaders instead of trying to carry everything ourselves.

At every stage of growth, I had a guide who had already been down the path. Someone who could point out the next turn, help me avoid the wrong trail, and tell me when the hard part was normal.

That changed everything for me.

Why “WayMark”

A marker left for the next person making the climb.

A waymark is the trail marker someone leaves so the next hiker doesn’t get lost on the way up the mountain.

I’ve made the climb, and I’ve left waymarks along the way. WayMark exists so painting contractors don’t have to trailblaze alone.

There’s no course, class, or certification that replaces walking the path with somebody who’s already been there.

Today, I do that by building systems and software for painting businesses. I connect the tools you already have into one source of truth, so you can grow without the chaos.

How I work

Build the system the business needs. Then make the tools support it.

01

No rip and replace

I connect what you already have. If a tool still fits the business, we keep it and fix the handoffs around it.

02

Systems first, software second

Software is just the tool that runs your system faster. We get the process clear before we automate it.

03

One source of truth

Enter every job once. Know which system owns each number. Give your team information they can trust.
